From early childhood, Simon Collins realised he had a gift which enabled
him easily to create and reproduce "realistic" pictures. As
a consequence, he studied art at school before attending a prominent art
college in London.
For Simon, the "bug" to paint and create pictures took its first
serious bite around 1994. In recent times, he has developed a keen interest
in creating unconventional pictorial hooks and devices to arrest the viewer
and grab the eye . Although best known for his traditional figurative
nudes and pastel landscapes, Simon is currently exploring a conceptual
direction with the nude, as well as continuing with portrait commissions
and local landscapes.
